    I have a question concerning exercise 12. I understand that, if the first derivative is constantly decreasing, there will be one extreme value at most. What I don’t understand is that there is the possibility to have no extreme value at all. Because if the first derivative is constantly decreasing, it must cross the x-axis exactly once and therefore I do not understand how f(x) can have no extreme values at all.

    1. Hi Louis,
      It might never cross it if it only has negative or only positive values. So it could top before the x-asis or it could begin under it. I hope this answers your question!

    1. Hi Zelie,

      The first derivative with respect to y is 6y^2 + 4x. Now we have to take a derivative of that but with respect to x, so we treat y as a constant. 6y^2 is just a constant so it falls away, and the derivative of 4x is 4.

    when we calculate our new sales, after finding the new d, why do we multiply by the old price ( p=10) and not p=15?
